on-site fine payment system through the GovPAY starts today

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that the on-site fine payment system through the GovPAY application will be launched starting today, focusing on the Western Province.

Participating in a press conference held in Colombo today, the Minister said that the necessary technical tools for this purpose will be distributed to police stations today.

The system for paying instant fines for traffic violations online through the GovPAY application was introduced recently under the Clean Sri Lanka project, and accordingly its pilot project was implemented from Kurunegala to Anuradhapura.

Accordingly, after paying the fine for traffic violations through this system and confirming the text message received on the phone with the traffic officers, the driver’s license will be released at that time.

The process is as follows.

01 Login: Login to your Mobile/Internet Banking App or Mobile/Fintech App.

02 Select the option: Under the option, select “Government Payments/Bill Payments” and then “GovPay”.

03 Select the institution and service:

Select ‘Sri Lanka Police’ from the list of organizations.

Select ‘Traffic Fine’ from the list of services.

04 Enter:
Enter your fine sheet number (Fine Sheet Number).

Enter your vehicle number (Vehicle Number) and driving license number (Driving License Number).

Select the police station (Police Station) mentioned in the fine sheet.
Ask the police officer and select ‘Traffic Officer Mobile Number.’

Select the ‘Fine Types’ relevant to the fine sheet.

05 Reconfirm:

Check (Confirm) whether the fine details are correct.

06 ‘Confirm’ for final confirmation.

Get your driving license: Once the traffic police officer receives a payment confirmation text message (SMS), your driving license will be returned to you.
