A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting at the house of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha member and lawyer Tharaka Nanayakkara of the NPP.
Police confirmed that the 34-year-old suspect, a resident of Kelaniya, was arrested during a special operation conducted in the area.
The shooting took place on July 16th at Nanayakkara’s house in Malimbada, Weligama. Reports indicate that nine bullets fired from a pistol hit the gate of the house.
Notably, the attack took place despite police security being deployed at the premises at the time.
