Several operations were carried out on the 25th as part of a series of special operations to arrest individuals involved in drugs and crime.
The Sri Lanka Police, the Police Special Task Force and the tri-forces have worked together in these operations, and more than 6,500 security personnel have participated, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
During the search operations conducted, 24,281 individuals have been searched, 10,175 vehicles and 7,240 motorcycles have been searched.
The statement states that 1,455 individuals have been arrested for drug offenses during these operations.
Furthermore, 374 grams and 336 milligrams of ice and 218 grams and 281 milligrams of heroin have been seized.
During these raids, 17 people were arrested who were directly involved in the crimes, and the police also arrested 408 people who had warrants for various offenses.
