The gunman who was allegedly shot Bus Asitha near the Dehiwala railway station was shot dead by the Special Task Force in Kahathuduwa, the police media spokesperson says.
According to sources he was a former Police Special Task Force (PTI) soldier and has been dismissed from service on drug charges.
At around 4:30 AM today (25), the Police Special Task Force searched a house in the Kedalowita area of ​​Palagama, Kahathuduwa, And the suspect who was hiding there opened fire on STF officers. In the shootout, the suspect was injured and died due to retaliatory fire by STF officers.

A STF officer who was injured in the incident is receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital, while the body of the shooter who died from the gunshot wound has been placed at the Wethara Hospital for further investigation.

It is reported that the person injured in the shooting at Dehiwala, “Bas Asitha”, is a close relative of Badowita Asanka, another organized criminal and drug trafficker in the area.
This shooting is considered to be another result of the long-standing conflict between these two parties.
Sudath Kumara alias Bas Asitha, a 46-year-old man who was injured in the previous shooting, is currently receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.
even though Bus Asitha currently residing in the Wellawatte area, his original residence is in the Koralaima area of Horana-Kahathuduwa and it has also been revealed that he worked as a distributor in Badowita Asanka’s drug network.
The police said that he, who is also a bus owner, and also lends money on interest.
Bus Asitha was in a car near the Dehiwala railway station when two men on a black motorcycle opened fire using a pistol.
