An attempt to shoot a health administration officer near the S. D. S. Jayasinghe Stadium in Dehiwala has failed.
Police said that a person who arrived on a motorcycle at around 9:15 am today attempted to shoot a person near the stadium.
However, it is said that the attempt was unsuccessful as the shooter’s firearm did not fire.
Police also said that the motorcyclist had later fled.
The police media division stated that the health administration officer who was the target of the shooting had gone to the Dehiwala police station and lodged a complaint about the incident.
Dehiwala police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
